Amazing pastries especially the strawberry cream delight and apricot crumb cookie. You should come here!

Easy walk from the Guadalupe Hotel and many great shops and galleries, Friendly wait staff and amazing food! Went there for breakfast 3 out of 4 days on my recent trip. Fruit crepe is to die for. Prices are more than fair!

Food is always excellent. The service lacks customer service. The last 3 times in has not been busy and waited for a coffee refill for 15 minutes while 4 wait staff standing at the cash register. Service is much better when busy. Last time in my food was half ready. Part of the order out and waited on other half. Great food, character, just get the customer service down. They did comp our drinks after I asked why the slow refill and order time. Greatly appreciated.

A unique experience today, and probably my last here. I was to meet a friend from ABQ here instead of Clafouti's, because the latter has difficult parking. Swiss BP&B has ample street parking and opens at 7:00 . . . or so we thought. I arrived at 7:35. The lights were off, so I wasn't sure the door was open, but it was. I walked into a deserted restaurant and knocked around for about five minutes as I waited for my friend. When she arrived, I called out, trying to get someone's attention. No response, though I heard clattering in the back. I finally went back and asked if they weren't open, and a worker said he had to go ask. He came back to say they'd probably be open at 8:00 today **because the owner had not shown up.** As a previous reviewer said, there's nothing Swiss about it. The wait staff has never conveyed a sense of competence: orders confused, overly-familiar, hovering or disappearing. The food is good, even unusual, but not great. There are so many good restaurants downtown, I'm amazed that they are so lackadaisical in the face of so much competition. They've been in business for years, yet another reviewer says she hopes it will improve with time.

My husband and I were first drawn by the outstanding singing occuring from the entrance sung by " Micah" we were welcomed by George and staff and didn't want to leave what a fun place!! We will be back. Rob and Lane from Dallas

I came here on a Sunday for brunch. The breakfast croissant was delicious, and the service was the best I had in Santa Fe. I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast/lunch. Also if it's a nice day they have an excellent patio!

Terrible! It was my third...and last time trying this place! I gave it a chance, two chances too many. There are so many great restaurants in Santa Fe and so much competition, even around their location...There is no excuse for the lack of quality, service, timing, follow through, etc, etc, etc...(!) My food was cold, raw crepe, messy, too much money for the quality and took way too long. The only good thing they have going...is their location. The place has potential, but it's messy and dirty at the moment. The food could be good, but they need their chef/cooks to learn how to cook...before serving what comes out of that kitchen. They need to step it up if they want to survive Santa Fe...

Do you love breakfast food? Go to Swiss Bakery for breakfast, lunch, coffee or a snack. The menu is tempting and it's difficult to choose just one thing. Ordered the crepe with 2 eggs, ham and Gruyere cheese. It comes with hash browns too. Tasty dish and I could barely finish it all. Portions are a-plenty at Swiss Bakery. Ordered the apple strudel, which was very sweet and flaky. I cannot wait to go back and try more items off the menu. The location is right downtown with lots of shopping in walking distance. The restaurant reminded me of being in a European cafe.

Picked this place from a yelp search on our weekend stay while looking for an apartment. The place was kind of cute inside. Not as Swiss as would of expected. The waiter was underwhelmed, he looked at his watch when he got to our table, didn't smile, didn't welcome us or mention anything about what's good. I thought maybe they were closing soon, he said no. He just handed us the menus and walked away. Came back soon after and asked if we needed more time and was annoyed about it. I tried to kill him with kindness but he wasn't having it. The food was good, the only saving grace. Although my daughter had the French toast and they were a little dry. I MIGHT give it another try. For the food. The pastries looked delicious. The other stag didn't seem too happy about being there too, maybe we went on an off day....

Before Mister S. became my mister, we had brunch at Swiss Bakery Pastries and Bistro one day after taking in the Farmers' Market with his mother, who was visiting him for the weekend. I was delighted to see the rare and exotic g-free crepe on their menu; I half giggled, ordering the lemon & ricotta version, while Mister S. and his mother both ordered colossal eggplant-parmesan(?) sandwiches. The cuisine was divine, the service was excellent and the ambiance was lovely on the back patio near the large fountain. We settled our full stomachs with some well-appointed espresso, served in a very classy manner. Since that first visit, I have ordered the lemon ricotta g-free crepe each and every time I've been to the Swiss Bakery Pastries and Bistro. It is an exceptional treat and I adore it.

I had such high, unfounded hopes for this place. I read the reviews before I came, but I'm stubborn and had to see for myself. Unfortunately, everyone else is right, this place is fairly mediocre. I almost passed the restaurant as I was looking for it, there is only a small sign letting you know where it is located. Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted with a glass case of pastries that looks scrumptious. I was by myself since I was in Santa Fe for work, and once I was seated, I had a direct view to the back of the kitchen from my table. Every once in a while, I would catch some of the kitchen staff staring at me from inside. Awkward. I ordered the Santa Fe croissant with potatoes provencal. I was unimpressed. The croissant part was pretty good, but not amazing. It was filled with eggs, cheese, ham and green chiles, but it felt like it was nothing special. The potatoes were pretty awful. For the most part, they were undercooked, some raw in the middle. So disappointing! There are so many good restaurants in the Santa Fe area there is really no reason to visit this restaurant.

  • Carmen C.

What happened??? Since our last visit prices have gone up substantially. My omelette was nothing special, tea I ordered never showed up, walls are scuffed and dirty, the pastry case was almost empty, waiters joked noisily behind the counter, we got the wrong bill.... Supposedly it's not under new ownership, but I can't imagine what would cause such a dramatic decline.

Lousy coffee - they need to learn how to make a latte and learn how to brew drip coffee - and lousy breakfasts. Such a disappointment. Baked goods are decent.

Being a business owner and in the service industry, this review is painful to write. The experience was hideous. I mean, unforgivable. The restaurant is a nightmare of derelict furnishings and decor; after sitting in the dining room (a mess of hand-me-down fixtures and fake plants) we moved to the patio (a junkyard of haphazard crap, again confirming the who-cares attitude that this place seethed with), our waiter was harried but kind. We ordered wine, our food and proceeded to wait and wait and wait. Under busted out light bulbs and next to a depressing and neglected fountain. I went to the restroom. Now, I may be errant in my standard that a restroom may indicate the overall maintenance of a business, but the men's room made a port-a-potty look like the Four Seasons. The toilet was splashed with effluvial slime, the trash was overflowing. Filthy. Disgusting. Not a good sign for a place, any place, of business. At that point, I decided that leaving was better than possible botulism and we were charged $79.00 for food that we didn't eat. I hope our waiter finds another job and the owner spends some money on cleaning up the dump he calls a restaurant instead of paying shady street musicians.

We literally wandered into this place because a guy was holding a sign, roses, and a big bottle of champagne. This was just before Valentine's Day. They were to have live music so we ventured in to look at the menu. We were delighted to see Swiss-German food on the menu so decided to stay. The music was fantastic! The service was good, friendly, nice staff. The atmosphere was romantic (except the battery-powered candles). But the food was mediocre. We split a French onion soup and it had processed gruyere on it that was horrific. The jäger schnitzel we split was ok but had way too much wine in the sauce. I made the mistake of eating all my spaetzle and got a touch of food poisoning. My wife said they tasted off and didn't take more than a bite. I spent a night planned for romance on the toilet. We lived in Germany so are a bit more particular about that type of food but getting sick from it is inexcusable. I would have given this place at least 3 stars if I hadn't gotten sick. They obviously made the spaetzle on some other night and the eggs in it went bad. Such potential wasted. Hopefully the owner will get more involved.

I don't get why people are giving this place three stars only, Or why they say it is hard to find. You could say that about any restaurant Santa Fe, but their sign with the Swiss Flag Is very easy to see as you drive down Guadalupe Street. Service is very good, Decor is inviting and entertaining The food is really good For the price Which is why I gave it five stars. Sure, if you compare it to gourmet Sunday brunch at St. Regis Hotel in Aspen Colorado, You were going to be a little disappointed, But that is not fair apples to apples comparison. My Santa Fe stuffed Swiss croissant was very well executed, not too much cheese or drowned in green chili. Coffee is not burnt diner stuff, and the pastries are amazing! My wife had the Signature Swiss Crepe (not a Creep as one reviewer intelligently wrote) and it was delicious! So if you're in Santa Fe And you've already hit up Pasqual's and Clafoutis, Don't hesitate to try The Swiss Bakery!

  • Dick C.

Nothing Swiss about it. Especially the timing. 30 minutes for toast. 45 for eggs Benedict. No idea how to work their till. What a disaster.

  • Tara T.

Decent food but the coffee is horrible. It's gotten worse as of late. Now it tastes burnt everyone I've tried it. Foam on cappuccinos is terrible. You gotta have better coffee if you are a swiss bakery. Please choose a better brand of coffee and train your baristas better. I know several folks who well not return because of your coffee. hash Brown and potatoes need work too. They are undercooked every time.

I feel like one star is justified as they couldn't have messed up the beer so that counts for something. Everything else was absolutely the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I had high hopes since they came to the table so quickly to take our drink order. (granted we were a group of 4 with only one other small group in the place.) The waiter was very nice but that doesn't make up for the food taking almost an hour to arrive. We ordered cheese fondue and two other uncooked dishes that didn't require any cooking. The fondue was terrible and overly stringy. They never offered us one single refill on drinks. My previous experiences were similar and despite convincing my friend who had similar experiences in the past that we should try it again, I felt overly compelled to write this after such a terrible time.

This place has gone down hill - the food, the service, the atmosphere. Even the pastry display shelves were lopsided. I ordered a drink that never came. My companion's dish was all wrong. They argued when we brought it to their attention. We won't be back!!

I guess u can say this place is a hidden gem. Right on Guadalupe. Isn't anymore hidden than other restaurants. Had the Monte Christo. Highly recommend. NON GMO, antibiotic free meat. Great staff. Very good bakery.

I liked the vibe of this place. There was a really good jazz band playing which I really enjoyed. I got the seafood bisque which wasn't bad. I then got the saffron risotto which was good flavor but the rice could have been cooked more. My husband got the vegetable lasagna which was really good (made from scratch) but he would have liked more. We finished with a raspberry roll which was good ... A little dry but still tasty. With all this being said the staff was extremely nice and honestly If I lived here I'd probably become a regular for how I enjoyed the music and staff.

Three words - Monti Cristo burger! It's a burger topped in ham and Swiss cheese, wrapped in a crepe, drizzled with jam, dusted with powdered sugar. It sounds so wrong - but it's AMAZING! It really works. The meat is seasoned nicely, and the ham and cheese complement it. The crepe is light and somehow you don't notice the sweet of the jam and sugar - it all just melds together in each delicious bite. My daughter and I shared the burger and it wasn't quite enough. Next time we are planning on getting it with a salad. Also it comes with a choice of potatoes - we had hash browns. They were ok - not great. I've also had there other potatoes - cubed and sautéed in butter - not a fan. Crepes are always good. Sandwiches and salads are also good and fresh.

OMG! The cream puffs, the napoleons, the pastries are all amazing! I do think that they are a little pricey, maybe by .50 or .75 for the average pastry, but overall, the quality more than justifies the cost. We haven't tried the menu but plan to upon our next trip to Santa Fe.

I am a french onion soup fiend. Had a bowl today and it was pretty good, but not as good as the French Pastry Shop downtown. Added to this the place was cold, the coffee colder. Service was fine. If you are in the railyard area and want a cup of coffee and a pastry for breakfast, it would be good bet.

  • Gilbert G.

The crepe was under cooked, the food presentation had no color, all white looking. The crepe had not been turned or folded properly, looked like it had been dropped on the plate. The sauce was cold and flavorless. Bland. Everything needed salt. I walked away from the meal still hungry. The service was just below being adequate. The décor was attractive. That's why I'm giving it one star instead of 0. Looking over the photos posted in the reviews none of them looked like mine.

Best turkey sandwich...Ever! Plus a Delicious vegetable and goat cheese croissant sandwich. Fun, personable server that gave us excellent service. We got our food quickly too and it was presented beautifully. We also thought it was a great value for the money. Definitely looking forward to going again.

This is the place to go if you like lots of goodies with Gruyere cheese. Cute place with friendly service. I don't know what it is about Santa Fe but there always seem to be a big lag time from when you order your food to when you get it. I hope your food gets out faster than ours did. I enjoyed my open face, Croque Monsieur. The salad that came along side was nice too. I was with a group and some folks got the hamburger; which they liked and commented on the texture being like "chopped steak". For dessert, you have to get up and go to the display case and order from there. Then you go back to your table with dessert in hand. Kinda odd-ball but maybe that's the way the Swiss serve dessert. Anyway, I would say that my gluten-free chocolate and cherry dessert was fine (above average but not stellar). The group I was with was of the same mind. I'll try it again.

Just had iced coffee and some of the best desserts in Santa Fe. Try the Banana's Foster truffle, it is fabulous!

  • Michael B.

Food was ok at best and the service was glacial. We were there for a late lunch at 2 pm so they were not busy. I got the apple strudel for dessert and it was dry and stale. My entree was an omelet and hash browns. The omelet was fine but the potatoes were clearly made long before the omelet.

  • Clare M.

It's fine. Decent food, decent service. The owners gives the vibe of "I can't be bothered" which is a turn off to me. Sometimes I feel ignored when I have lunch here, but I know to expect it so it doesn't irritate me too much. Like I said, good sandwiches though.

***** UPDATING MY REVIEW ***** Bumping it up to 4 stars because on several subsequent visits they seem to have ironed out the confusion issues, service has been good. The food has been very good on every visit. ********** My one complaint is they were very disorganized/harried behind the counter. I came in at 11:45, and they weren't 1/4 full, maybe 7 parties altogether. The main source of confusion seemed to be that the owner/manager was running around trying to do everything. Things would probably go smoother if she focused on hosting, tending the register, and checking on the kitchen and let her servers do their job. Having said that, my sandwich/salad was very nice, and the menu looks good. This is a nice addition to the railyard area.

We are frequent diners of Swiss Bakery due to its proximity of our home. We have never had a bad experience yet it is getting extremely busy for brunch on Sundays. I recommend not arriving between 11-12pm! By the time we left, which was around 11:30am, the line was out the door. I do like everything I have ordered, especially the fruit plate. The fruit they serve is plentiful and very tasty. I have yet to order an omelet but have had the 2 egg plate with bacon. What annoys me is the 2 egg plate does not come with any toast. I have never been to a restaurant that it doesn't come with it automatically! Sigh. And when we ordered coffee, the cup was dirty with someone's old lipstick stain- BARF!!! How unsanitary!! I would recommended trying out this place for brunch (but make sure you have a clean cup!).

I only had a pastry and coffee here, but it warrants a quick review because the pastry was outstanding (mini eclair, maybe the best ever), the coffee was fresh and delicious, the servers were so very friendly and welcoming, and the decor of the place was great-looking. I came once in the morning and it was very sunny and cheerful, and then in the evening, it was romantic with a few musicians playing quietly. I hope to go back next time I'm in the area.

We've been here some 6-10 times in the past few years and so we were really surprised with the poor quality today. If a poster from another website from June 2013 is correct and the original owner has sold the place, well wow, this is disappointing. My Swiss Crepe had batter that while it tasted good, was not fully cooked. My shredded potatoes (hash browns) came with absolutely no crisp on top, white, and raw-ish. There was so much butter on them (because they weren't cooked fully or hot enough) that they were slimy. My husband's french toast was dry. Can't tell if it was made with brioche (my guess) but it was not good. His bacon was burnt in spots (black, having hit a hot spot on the grill) and uncooked in others. My coffee cup came out half full, though they offered regularly to refill. Service was good and we even told our waiter that this food was disappointing and he said, "hmm..I'll pass that on, I had another complaint this morning about the chef". Well, there you go. If it's truly changed owners, I doubt I'll now give them another chance. What a shame, this place used to be amazing.

Great eggs Benedict on a croissant! A nice twist on the traditional New Mexican restaurant scene. Great coffee as well. Solid 4 stars.

We live in SF and decided to check out this new restaurant. A friend said it was ok but she would probably not go there again. Well, we went anyhow and had a surprise: The crapes where made of very heavy, very thick, pancake batter. Not at all what one would expect for crapes. The filling was fair. Ordered a chocolate and an almond croissants to go. When got home noticed that instead of the almond croissant got a plane one! When cut the chocolate one in half there were only a couple of drops of chocolate inside. The service was slow, average. Staff was courteous, about the best part of the experience... Obviously we are not recommending this place!

Impressed w the building and initial greeting this morning, went downhill from there. Waitress had too many tables to be effective, never offered an explanation of poor service, ie shortstaffed... She forgot my coffee, wrong sides on the meals, no offer of condiments, water or coffee refills. Flagged waitress down to pay the bill, she did not provide an itemized receipt, not sure what we even paid for. Stuffed croissant was good, veggie omelet was bland and potatoes were overdone. Won't be back.

Swiss Bakery has an inventive menu. The execution is better than average but not perfect. I ordered breakfast both times I was there...once at breakfast time and once at lunch time. I was happier with the result at breakfast time. At lunch time the accompanying hash browns seemed reheated as opposed to the fresher presentation at breakfast time. I would definitely return for the original menu.

Five of us had brunch here mid-morning. The place was busy, but we were warmly greeted and seated quickly. Service was excellent; the food was delicious! The Nutella crepes are downright decadent; everyone reported their meals were great. Coffee was A+ also--I had the Americano and it was a real eye-opener.

I had heard about this place from a friend, and because I like to support family-owned businesses, I got a chance to check it out today. You kind of wouldn't know if it was open from the street, but it had a decent amount of people eating lunch there today. The service was friendly, and the lady who took my order (it was her first day working there) was very nice. I got their ham and cheese sandwich to go, and they had it ready in record time, which was good because I was late for a business meeting. $7.50 for a sandwich and a small side salad! The pastries looked awesome, and there were little sugar cookies for people to try while they wait for their orders. I'll be coming back!

What a transformation from the dark, club like atmosphere of Corazon, to the bright, welcoming feel of a swiss bakery. As you enter, you are greeted by a long display of deliciously prepared pastries of all shapes and sizes. The restaurant was busy and we waited a bit for service, but that gave us time to look over their extensive menu with delicious and interesting choices. All of the plates arriving at the tables were picturesque with varieties of colorful fruit, crepes, mouth watering croissants and eggs prepared in numerous ways. Our cappuccinos were delicious and were even presented with 6 nickel sized sugar and butter cookies! My girlfriend had "Federer's preferred breakfast", which is Musli with yogurt and fresh berries, because my girlfriend is in love with the tennis star. My jealousy subsided when I took my first bite of the Eggs Benedict on croissant with ham. Everything was delicious, I can't wait to try their fruit plate and some of their pastries! We had a wonderful experience! Thanks Swiss Bakery, our morning started off a little harried and by the end of our breakfast the birds were chirping, the sun was shinning bright and we were ready to start our days!

Went for Sunday breakfast. Place was about 1/3 full. Order taken promptly, and good coffee served. Meals for two took ~50 minutes to serve and were not only 'not warm', but refrigerator cold. One order had been taken wrong. Gave feedback to the server and got the 'Santa Fe sneer' in response. The manager on duty avoided our table. Pastries looked delicious.

The food was okay, nothing to write home about. Our sodas were flat. I had the watermelon feta salad that was a good portion and okay. Hubby had the Cuban-- it said pork loin, so he was thinking he'd get a good hunk of meat and his sandwich had shaved ham... Once again, nothing to write home about.

Sometimes I hate that I can't add half a star. It's not 3 stars but it's not 4 stars either. I really liked the environment, was cute. Menu was creative but execution not quite there. Wife ordered the huevo rancheros crepe while I had the stuffed croissant. Biggest thing I thought was lacking was salt in both dishes especially in the potatoes. I'd love to return and try their lunch menu, maybe better than breakfast. Some work to do with this place but am hoping this cafe will improve w time and feedback.

Beautiful pastries. Terrible everything else. Stupidly overpriced and the decor is dirty and odd. The place seems to be run by high school students conducting a group project.

Wow! I decided to stop in at Swiss Bakery for brunch in Santa Fe this past weekend. I debated quite a bit on which place to go to - brunch is my favorite meal of the day, and I wanted to make sure that I found the best place in the city. I nearly went to a couple of other restaurants over this one based on better Yelp reviews, but upon reviewing the menus, decided to stop at the Swiss bakery. I'm SO glad that I did, because I did indeed find the best brunch in Santa Fe, at least when it comes to crepes. Swiss bakery served me the best crepe I've had in my short life: the Signature Swiss, filled with ham, egg, gruyere. The crepe was delightfully light and fluffy, yet strong, and not too sweet. I'm still not sure what bechamel sauce is, but I'm convinced that it tied the whole crepe together. The potatoes were a sort of hash, but not too crispy (just like I like it) and perfectly seasoned. I thoroughly enjoyed my brunch and, reminiscing now at 8:45 at night, wish that I could have one right now. I will definitely be returning for more insanely good crepes. That being said, the wait staff seemed a bit off. Or maybe it was just my waiter. He showed up at all the right times, but seemed somewhat socially awkward. But this is just a side note; I would return for another brunch in a heartbeat.

By far the best crepes and cafe au lait in Santa Fe. And the best croissants. And better still, our waiter was superb! If you haven't had breakfast or lunch here.you are missing out!

We featured Swiss Bistro & Bakery pastries and cutting cake at our daughter's wedding last weekend....Our 175 guests are still raving about how great the desserts were. Given the event requirements and timeline, we were not easy to work with... but the Swiss Bistro team came through beautifully. A special thanks to Arturo for the pastries, Catherine for the amazing cake, and Julio for navigating the delivery!

Not very clean or maintained. Coffee was good. The whole place needs paint-up/fix-up. It had dead plants on patio, storage items in disarray.

Came here for breakfast on Sunday morning and was very happy with the meal. I had the French Toast with caramel sauce and fresh fruit and fresh squeezed orange juice. The restaurant was beautiful and inviting, and the service was good. It looked like a regular place for locals and regulars, but definitely welcoming to us visitors. It's not terribly expensive, but a good value for the money. It's near the Railyard , which is always fun to explore. I would probably come back on my next trip.

(Disclaimer- did not actually eat here. Could not attract anyone's attention that worked here, so giving a low score based on attitude and (lack of) service.) A couple of us walked in last night looking for dessert or pastry. Small selection of desserts and pastries. Small. Small. Employees walking behind counter, very carefully not making any eye contact. A couple of employees gather at end of counter and talk- no acknowledgement. An "excuse me" from us results in staff scattering. Hopefully they have a solid repeat clientele, as we're not likely to try this place again for a meal or dessert any time soon.

Onion soup was cold and cheese didn't melt. But the Monte Cristo burger was great. Service was sloooow but very friendly.
